James Hooley

Chief of Emergency Medical Services

With over 35 years of experience at Boston EMS, Jim has served as an EMT, a Paramedic, a Shift Commander and as the Superintendent of Field Operations. Prior to assuming the duties of Chief of Department, he served as the Superintendent in Chief from 2004 through the fall of 2009. Jim has completed the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. A lifelong resident of Boston, Jim is proud to lead a team of dedicated EMS professionals who tirelessly serve the people of Boston each and every day.
