$8 million grant to help fund fare free transit program

During this week’s City Council meeting, the Council voted (12-1) to approve an $8 million grant to fund communities and families most affected by the public health and economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funds from this grant will be used to expand the fare free transit program on routes 23, 28 and 29 for the next two years. The three bus lines serve areas of Mattapan, Dorchester, and Roxbury.
